That said, a high number of firework related injuries are caused by sparklers, so with this in mind:

Take care when using sparklers as they get extremely hot when burning (1000 to 1600 degrees centigrade) and remain very hot for sometime afterwards. Wear gloves when handling sparklers and never give sparklers to children under 5 years old.
